Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the season-opening cup on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille fired two times in the closing moments to seize a shock lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to force the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
